Even as a “high level” award traveler, I burned a ton of points

I always tell myself to check every program before booking. This time I didn’t. Paid for it. Booked SQ MLE to SIN to PVG through Aeroplan. 65k points and about $700 per person. Felt fine at the time. A few days later I checked ANA. Same SQ flights. 30,500 points and around $250....
