Upgrading parents only to business class can lead to unaccompanied minor fees on Qantas

Here’s a tip for parents flying internationally with young children.

If you upgrade only yourselves to business class while your kids remain in economy, the airline may classify them as unaccompanied minors and charge additional fees accordingly. It’s not something you can easily dispute at the airport.

On top of that, separating seating like this can make the flight more difficult, as the kids may end up moving back and forth between cabins throughout the journey.
