I have an international itinerary from Sydney to Bogotá with a connection in Santiago. The first segment is operated by Qantas Airways and the second by LATAM Airlines, all under one booking.
I am trying to add an additional 23 kg checked bag in advance, but neither airline’s website allows me to purchase it ahead of time.
When I contacted customer support, I was told I can only pay for the extra baggage at airport check-in on the day of departure.
I am wondering if others have experienced this with mixed-carrier bookings, and whether paying at the airport is straightforward or significantly more expensive compared to prepaying online.
