That’s a great outcome, and honestly a perfect example of doing it the right way on both sides. You helped another family, explained clearly what you were giving up, and asked for something reasonable in return.


Upgrading you to Polaris and tossing in points is a solid win, especially since they didn’t make it awkward or drag it out. Too often airlines expect people to move seats “for free” and act surprised when someone pushes back.


Also a good reminder that being calm and polite gets you way further than getting upset. Not guaranteed every time, but you definitely don’t win if you don’t ask.
