I’m getting increasingly frustrated with how Qantas is handling its cancellation policy for travel through the Middle East.
They still seem to be offering free cancellation only up until the end of May, and there has been no meaningful update for passengers traveling in early June. My flight is on 5 June, which is only days away, and if I choose to cancel myself, I would apparently lose hundreds of dollars despite current government guidance advising against travel.
Because of the uncertainty, we already made alternative arrangements through Asia, which means we have now paid for two separate sets of flights.
What makes this more frustrating is that other airlines, such as Virgin, appear to have extended flexible options much further ahead, while Qantas still has not provided clear guidance for upcoming travel dates.
The only communication we have received recently was a schedule change that moved our departure about 12 hours earlier.
I’ve called customer service multiple times and still cannot get a clear answer regarding June travel. It feels like communication and planning have been handled poorly.
Is anyone else traveling in early June dealing with the same issue, or has anyone received more concrete information from Qantas?
