A frequent flyer shared a positive experience with Qantas after needing to cancel multiple reward (CR) bookings for three passengers. Under normal circumstances, the cancellation would have resulted in a significant points penalty.
The traveler explained that they were unable to reach the origin airport in Amsterdam because their connecting Virgin-operated flights were cancelled due to routing issues via Doha. As a result, they contacted Qantas to cancel their bookings.
After speaking with a customer service representative and explaining the situation, the agent agreed to waive the standard cancellation fee, even though the disruption was related to a separate booking under a different reservation. The passenger noted that the process involved a long wait time on hold but ultimately resulted in a favorable outcome.
