I frequently stay at Hilton properties and always use the Do Not Disturb (DND) sign on my door. Despite this, I’ve noticed that housekeeping staff often knock or even attempt to enter my room between 9 and 10 AM, even though the official checkout time is noon.
This has been happening across multiple properties, including a Tapestry Collection hotel and a couple of DoubleTree locations. In some cases, staff have knocked and entered after only a brief pause, which has disturbed my sleep, especially since I have insomnia and am a light sleeper.
I understand there may be communication gaps between hotel staff regarding late checkouts or room status, and I want to avoid causing any issues for the housekeeping team. I’m considering options such as leaving a polite note on the door, adding a request in my reservation, or informing the front desk during check-in.
I’m looking for advice on the best and most effective way to prevent early disturbances while still being respectful to hotel staff and operations.
