I have a trip booked through Cathay Pacific for July, which includes a domestic connection from Adelaide to Melbourne operated by Qantas Airways.
When I checked my booking, I noticed that the Qantas segment had been cancelled and I was automatically rebooked onto an earlier flight by Cathay Pacific. However, when I checked the Qantas website directly, the same cancelled flight is still showing as available for purchase.
This has made me question what is happening behind the scenes. I am wondering whether Qantas may have internally marked the flight for cancellation while still selling seats, or if it is a scheduling or system issue where availability has not been updated across platforms. I am also unsure how common this type of inconsistency is between partner airline bookings and direct airline inventory.
