I really appreciate the convenience of Hyatt's digital key feature when it actually works.
The problem is that, most of the time, it doesn't.
This time, what concerned me even more was that the virtual key displayed in the app wasn't even assigned to my room, or anything close to it. Seeing the wrong room number made me question how often these kinds of mistakes happen. If my digital key can be linked incorrectly, could other guests accidentally receive access to my room as well?
For context, this is the first time I've noticed a room assignment error like this. However, in my experience, the virtual key fails to work about 9 out of 10 times. On top of that, I've never had it work in the elevators at properties that require key access to reach guest floors, making it nearly impossible to rely on as a standalone room key.
I'm curious to hear what others think. Have you had similar experiences with Hyatt's digital keys, or has it worked reliably for you?
