Flights to China with high third-party fees

I’ve been searching for award flights to China and noticed that while availability exists using points, the additional third-party fees are quite high, around $450–$500 or more per leg.

This seems unusually expensive compared to other points bookings I’ve seen, so I’m wondering if this is normal for flights to China or if the higher fees are related to current global conditions.
