Burned miles for a Polaris upgrade recently and honestly… totally worth it.
Flew SFO–ORD in the morning, hung out in the Polaris lounge for a few hours, then boarded for Brussels. Had my low sodium special meal, which was actually pretty solid.
After that I set up the bedding, flipped the seat into bed mode, put on the headphones and was out cold.
Slept through the mid flight service. Slept through breakfast. Didn’t wake up until the pre arrival announcement. I’m 5’7” and the Polaris seat felt like a perfect little capsule. Super comfortable.
I’ve flown United business for years and I don’t think I’ve ever been that completely knocked out on a transatlantic flight.
Landed in BRU, took the train into town, dropped my bags and actually had a productive first day instead of being a zombie.
For me at least, the lie flat made all the difference.
