Chicago to Perth via LAX baggage and connection question

I am flying from Chicago (ORD) to Perth with connections via LAX and Sydney on a single ticket. The first leg is a Qantas codeshare operated by American Airlines, followed by Qantas flights from LAX to SYD and then SYD to PER.

I wanted to confirm whether I need to collect my checked baggage at LAX and re-check it for the international Qantas flight, or if it will be automatically tagged through to Sydney, where I will clear immigration in Australia.

I also have a 90-minute connection at LAX and am wondering if that is sufficient time for this transfer.

I know this is a common question, but I am unsure due to past experiences with baggage rules at LAX, especially for international departures.
