I keep being told by airport staff that I should have my US and Australian passports “linked” in the system when traveling between the two.
The problem is no one seems able to tell me how to actually do it in advance. Check-in staff say to do it, the people at the automated passport gates say “do it next time,” and the ABF website only lists a Foreign Affairs number that doesn’t know anything about it.
Is there an actual contact or process for this? Can Qantas customer service handle it ahead of time, or is this something that can only be done at the airport?
