My partner, our child (over 2), and I will be flying from London to Perth on a direct Qantas flight and I’m hoping to get some advice about carry on luggage and boarding.
From what I understand, since our child has their own seat they should have the same cabin baggage allowance as an adult: one 7 kg carry on bag plus a personal item that fits under the seat.
Because it’s such a long flight and our child can be a bit picky with food and routines, we’re planning to bring toys, spare clothes, and some food.
Our planned carry on setup is:
Adult 1: one overhead cabin bag and one under seat bag with snacks and food
Adult 2: one overhead cabin bag and possibly a duty free bag
Child: a cabin approved stroller, a small backpack with toys for under the seat, and a teddy
We’re hoping to keep the stroller with us until the gate or plane if possible since it would help a lot when landing to get our child back to sleep and move through the airport more easily.
Does this sound reasonable with Qantas cabin rules, and how does boarding usually work on this route?
Also, if anyone has recently done this flight with kids, what kind of food options are usually provided for children?
