$800 Polaris upgrade from EWR to BER, worth it for me

Flew EWR to BER a few weeks ago and grabbed a last minute Polaris upgrade for $847 in seat 5F. First time flying United business, I usually fly Austrian or Lufthansa.

For the price it felt worth it, roughly $100 an hour. Space was decent. I’m 6’4 and still can’t fully stretch out, but that’s pretty much every cabin I’ve tried. Singapore First is still the closest I’ve had to truly comfortable.

Food was solid. Crab salad appetizer was good. Sirloin was offered to the first few rows and ran out fast. It was chewy but fine. The ice cream sundae lived up to the hype with all the toppings.

Sleeping wasn’t great. Crew was moving around a lot overnight and the guy next to me snored like a chainsaw. Breakfast before landing was disappointing, the bread pudding was dry.

One thing that really stood out was how hot the cabin was. I’m usually freezing on planes, but this felt like the heat was blasting the whole flight.

Overall though, for under $900 I’d absolutely do Polaris again
