Been seeing a lot of posts lately from people asking if they can get refunds for trips to Mexico because they’re worried after recent news.
The reality is most hotels and rentals aren’t going to refund non-refundable bookings just because someone suddenly feels nervous about traveling. Fear alone usually isn’t a valid reason under the booking terms.
The poster compared it to the US. Hotels in places like Chicago or Austin don’t suddenly refund reservations after violent weekends or incidents either.
Their main point was that Mexico has had the same State Department advisories for years, and if you booked knowing that, it’s hard to argue for a refund later just because something scary showed up in the news.
