This aircraft marked the end of an era for one of Boeing’s most iconic early jetliners.
The last operational Boeing 727-100, registration VP-BAP, completed its final flight in late 2025, bringing nearly 58 years of service to a close. The aircraft originally entered service with Pan Am in 1967 before later being converted into a VIP-configured private jet.
Its final flight was operated from Van Nuys, California to Kingman, Arizona, where it is expected to be preserved rather than immediately scrapped.
What makes this notable is how long it remained operational compared to most other 727-100s, which left airline service decades ago. Factors such as increasing maintenance demands, parts scarcity, and stricter regulatory requirements ultimately led to its retirement.
With this flight, one of Boeing’s most historically significant trijet designs officially moves from active aviation history into preservation.
