Trying to see if there’s anything left to try here or if this is basically a dead end.
I was booked on Wizz Air Abu Dhabi from Chișinău to Abu Dhabi on Aug 23, 2025, with a return a few days later. Around 1am on departure day I got an email saying the outbound was canceled. A few hours later, another email said the flight was reinstated.
Wizz refunded the ticket to my Wizz account, then withdrew the money again with zero explanation. In the end, the flight actually operated.
My travel companion was allowed to board but chose not to go without me. I was denied boarding at the gate, even though I had a valid ticket, checked in, and arrived on time. No clear reason was given and they refused to issue a denied boarding form.
Afterward, Wizz rejected my claim saying they couldn’t process anything without a denied boarding form, even though only the airline or ground staff can issue that.
I escalated to the Civil Aviation Authority in Moldova. During their investigation:
Ground handling gave contradictory info
Wizz never responded to official requests
It later came out that Wizz Air Abu Dhabi ceased operations on Sept 1, 2025
Since the airline no longer exists and never replied, the authority closed the case saying all administrative options were exhausted.
So now I’m out:
the money for both flights
the accommodation
no denied boarding document
and the airline is gone
Is there realistically anything else worth trying here, or is this just one of those brutal cases where you eat the loss?
