Just a warning for anyone using Wise while living or working abroad. My business account was suddenly closed in December without any prior notice.
I was initially told I would receive my funds back within a few days, but instead it turned into an “internal review” process with no clear timeline. It has now been almost 5 months and I still cannot access around $68,000 USD.
Even after police reviewed the situation and confirmed everything was legitimate, Wise has continued to hold the funds.
Communication has been very vague, with responses that feel automated and inconsistent. I have also been given incorrect information about balances and expected timelines.
This situation completely disrupted my business since I could not access my operating funds.
If you are a digital nomad or rely on Wise as your main account, it may be worth having a backup option.
Has anyone experienced something similar or found a way to resolve it faster?
