I’m currently traveling through Terminal 1 at Barcelona Airport near the B gates and wanted to share a security concern I noticed.
It appears that someone may be spoofing the airport’s free Wi-Fi network. The network name (SSID) looked identical to the official airport Wi-Fi, but when I connected, the usual login portal did not appear. Instead, I was directly connected and began receiving multiple security warnings, including invalid certificate errors and insecure connection alerts when trying to access websites.
This behavior strongly suggests a possible fake hotspot being used to intercept user data, potentially including personal information or payment details, especially in a busy public airport setting.
I tried reporting it to airport staff and security, but I didn’t receive any meaningful response or action at the time.
Just posting this as a warning so others can be cautious. I would recommend avoiding public Wi-Fi here unless absolutely necessary, and using a VPN or mobile data instead.
Stay safe while traveling.
