Booked a Southwest flight for $150 during a promo, and about 3 hours before departure I get an email offering $400 in travel credit if I’m willing to switch to another flight.
I’m not taking it, but I was genuinely curious why they’d do this so close to departure. Seems wild to offer more than double the ticket price at the last minute.
My guess is they’re oversold or expecting weight or crew issues and trying to fix it cheaply before it turns into involuntary bumps. Still surprised how aggressive the offer was, especially with such little notice.
Anyone else seen this happen?
