Why St Pancras gets extremely crowded when multiple Eurostar departures overlap

Whenever several Eurostar departures are scheduled close together at London St Pancras, the station suddenly becomes extremely chaotic.

What is normally a fairly calm station quickly turns into a crowded mess, with passengers and luggage everywhere as people try to find the correct queues for their trains.

It feels like the congestion escalates very quickly during these overlapping departure windows, and I am wondering why this pattern happens so consistently at St Pancras International.
