Trying to book Chicago–Sydney with economy on the ORD–LAX legs and business on the LAX–SYD ones. United’s site prices it at $23k for one itinerary, but if I split it into two bookings (ORD–LAX roundtrip + LAX–SYD roundtrip), it drops to about $7.5k total.
Makes no sense. Anyone know a way to book mixed cabins on one ticket without the wild markup? Or is two separate itineraries the only move?
