I’ve noticed more airlines adding premium economy on long and ultra-long-haul routes, and honestly, I think it’s hitting the sweet spot between cost and comfort. On trips where business class feels overpriced and economy feels cramped for 10+ hours, that extra legroom, wider seat, and better recline make a huge difference.
Plus, fares are often far more reasonable than business, especially on routes like London–New York or Sydney–LA.
It’s interesting that some airlines are even using premium economy strategically to avoid higher business-class taxes. And with first class disappearing on many carriers, this middle class of travel is becoming the go-to for frequent leisure travelers and cost-conscious business flyers.
I’m seriously considering it for my next transpacific trip, have you flown premium economy lately, and did it feel worth the upgrade?
