Even though my travel credit cards offer solid protections, I’ve started carrying an annual Allianz travel insurance policy and it's already paid for itself. I got food poisoning before a Europe trip in June, and filing one claim with Allianz for my $800 in nonrefundable bookings was way easier than chasing multiple card issuers.
The big win? I don’t have to keep track of which card I used for what, or worry about overlapping benefits. Plus, for around $249/year, I get decent medical, trip delay, and cancellation coverage. If you travel often and juggle cards like Amex Plat, Chase Sapphire Reserve, etc., this might be a worthy backup plan. Anyone else using an annual plan? What’s worked best for you?
