Why First Class Is Disappearing on US Airlines, And I’m Not Surprised

I recently read about the steady disappearance of international first class on US airlines, and honestly, it tracks with my recent experiences. I flew Delta and United long-haul last year and their business class Delta One and Polaris was so good that I never felt like I was missing anything. Flat beds, privacy doors, quality meals, lounge access, it felt like first class minus the price tag.

American Airlines is still hanging onto its Flagship First, but even that’s being phased out. Makes sense when you consider how much space and cost first class takes versus the limited demand. These days, most travelers myself included are either sticking with premium business class or splurging on private jets if they can. Curious if anyone’s recently flown true first class on international airlines like Emirates or Air France? Is it still worth it?
