I fly Emirates fairly often and generally like them. Most of my trips are US to India and back, usually on A380s, always in economy. I normally check two bags, both well within the weight limits, and check them in together at the counter.
What I don’t get is baggage delivery at the destination. Almost every time, one bag shows up within the first 10 minutes, and the second one doesn’t appear until 45 minutes to an hour later. This happens on both outbound and inbound legs and across multiple airports.
There are obviously a lot of bags coming off an A380, but it feels oddly consistent that my two bags get separated. One time it was worse and the second bag didn’t arrive at all and came the next day.
Is there a reason this happens? Different holds, weight balancing, connections, or just random airport handling? Curious if anyone knows how Emirates or big widebody flights handle this behind the scenes.
