I noticed a Brunei to London flight taking a very unusual route that avoided a lot of Southeast Asian airspace. I understand that many flights are currently avoiding parts of the Middle East because of tensions involving Iran, but this route still seems much longer than expected.
It looks like the aircraft could have taken a more direct path, so I’m curious if there’s another reason for the detour.
Does anyone know why a flight like this would avoid that region and take a longer route instead?
