I’m getting to the point where long haul economy is just brutal. I fly to the other side of the world once a year to see family and usually save up for business class. Lately the cheapest I’ve managed is around $6,500 AUD.
At the same time, I’ll see economy fares on the same route for about $1,200. Honestly, I’d happily pay $3,600 to buy three economy seats and block out a row. I don’t care about lounges, food, or priority boarding. I just want to be able to stretch out on a 30+ hour journey.
Has any airline ever seriously tried something like this, or is there some reason it just doesn’t work in practice?
