Who Knew Denver Had a Beach? Aurora Reservoir Totally Surprised Me

I finally checked out Aurora Reservoir during a trip to Denver, and wow I didn’t expect to find a legit beach vibe in the middle of Colorado. It’s only about 30 minutes from Aurora and under an hour from Denver, and it’s packed with things to do. I went paddleboarding (rentals were easy), saw people scuba diving, and even tried the archery range for the first time definitely bring your own target!

The trail around the reservoir was perfect for a mellow bike ride, and the water was super calm since motorboats aren’t allowed. It’s family-friendly with picnic spots, a playground, and beach volleyball. Pro tip: there’s not much shade, so come prepared.

Anyone else been out there? Curious if it’s worth returning in winter for snowshoeing or ice fishing.
