On a recent Delta flight (MSP to SAN), I was seated in 2A and placed my bag in the overhead area. When I returned to my seat, I noticed a purse or small bag placed in the middle cubby space.
At that point, 2B hadn’t boarded yet (as far as I knew), so I assumed the bag might have been left behind and tried to inform a flight attendant.
However, the passenger in 1A said it was her bag and insisted she hadn’t placed it in my space. She also told me not to touch her bag.
I stayed calm and suggested she speak with a flight attendant if there was an issue.
So I’m curious, who is actually entitled to that cubby space? Is it assigned to a specific seat, or is it shared? Has anyone in 1A or similar seats used that space before?
