Which place has the most arrogant locals, in your experience?

Surprisingly, my answer isn’t the US. Not even close.

For me it’s Argentina. And I say that as someone who actually loves the country and lived there for a year. Not just Buenos Aires either. Salta, Mendoza, Córdoba. Amazing places, great food, lots of warmth in day to day interactions.

But the arrogance is real. It’s often framed as pride, but it goes way beyond that. Almost every other Latin American country jokes about Argentine arrogance, and after living there, I get why.

A lot of Argentines genuinely believe they’re superior to the rest of Latin America. Many think they’re superior to the rest of the world too. There’s even that saying along the lines of “we’re not the best in Latin America, we’re the best in the world.”

What really stuck with me was that I’d sometimes ask people directly if they could deny the idea that Argentina is better than the rest of Latin America. I never once heard someone clearly say no. Compare that to Brits or Americans, plenty of whom will openly admit their country isn’t the best at all.

Still loved my time there, but yeah, Argentina takes the crown for me. Second place would probably be South Korea, mainly for how people from poorer countries are treated.

Curious what others think.
