I saw this question on Twitter but it was mostly Americans mentioning US cities, so I thought it would be interesting to ask here among travelers and digital nomads.
Which city have you visited that felt like it had a kind of “dark energy” or unsettling vibe overall?
For me, I’d oddly say Bangkok. Not everywhere there feels like this, and it can definitely be a fun and vibrant city with great energy. But some areas, especially certain nightlife streets and bars, sometimes gave off a more negative or heavy feeling that I did not expect. It is a mixed experience overall, but that contrast stood out to me.
Curious to hear other perspectives from people who have traveled widely.
