I’m currently in Rome near the Pantheon and was shocked to see a gelato shop charging around €18 for a cone, with no clear indication of portion size or number of scoops.
In other places I’ve visited, gelato pricing is usually straightforward and reasonable, but here it feels unclear and overpriced so far.
I’ve only been in Rome for a few hours and I’m also dealing with jet lag, so maybe I just picked a bad spot. Still, it made me wonder if this is common in that area or if I just ran into a tourist trap.
Are there places nearby where gelato is fairly priced and menus are transparent? Or is this kind of pricing typical around major attractions?
