I just read Megan Hughes' blog post about how a fear of bed bugs led her to spontaneously book a boat trip to Komodo Island, and it really resonated with me. I've definitely made some impulsive travel decisions to avoid questionable accommodations, but hers turned into an incredible experience. From watching thousands of bats fly out at sunset to seeing Komodo dragons up close, it sounds like a dream trip that was born out of a nightmare scenario. It’s a reminder that sometimes our travel anxieties can push us toward unexpected adventures.
Have any of you ever made a last-minute change in plans due to a bad hostel review or similar concern? Did it lead to a better experience than you originally planned?
