Wild story in this BBC piece about people using AI to plan trips and ending up at places that don’t even exist. One couple in Peru went looking for the Sacred Canyon of Humantay which AI just made up and paid $160 to get stranded in the middle of nowhere. Another couple in Japan trusted AI for ropeway times and got stuck on top of a mountain after sunset.
I’ve played with AI trip planning but I’d never rely on it alone. Funny how it sounds so confident even when it’s completely wrong. Double-checking feels like a must, especially if you’re heading somewhere remote.
