I flew MUC → JFK on March 25 with a return flight booked for April 15, but on April 13 I was informed that the return flight has been cancelled. Now I’m stuck in a foreign country.
Because both flights were in a single booking, my reservation now only shows the outbound leg. The airline says I will be rebooked automatically at no extra cost, but I’m not confident their system is properly handling my case, and there’s no clear update on any rebooking.
Their website also suggests that not all passengers will be automatically rebooked and advises against contacting them, but customer support is extremely difficult to reach.
I’m unsure what I should do next:
Should I wait for Lufthansa to rebook me?
If I book another airline myself, will Lufthansa reimburse the cost?
Will they cover extra expenses like hotels if I’m stuck longer?
