Not a stupid question at all. I hit this wall all the time when I’m solo.
Days are easy. Museums, walking, hikes, random wandering. Then 6pm hits, everything’s closed, and suddenly I’m like… now what?
A few things I end up doing:
Long dinner somewhere local. Not rushed. Sometimes I bring a book or journal.
Food tours or cooking classes if they exist. Even off season there’s usually something small running.
Evening walking just to see the city at night. Different vibe, even if it’s just neighborhoods near where I’m staying.
Cafés or wine bars. I’ll people watch or plan the next few days.
Random stuff like cinemas, live music, trivia nights, local events.
Sometimes though? I just lean into it. Shower, stretch, early night, read, call family. Solo travel can be tiring and I don’t feel guilty about slower evenings anymore.
Curious what others do too. Are you “go out every night” people or “recharge in the room” people?
