This sounds like one of those nights where everything that can go wrong does.
Flight out of CUN was delayed about 90 minutes. Right before boarding they announced we’d miss customs in Seattle, so the plan was to land in Vegas and clear there instead. Two hours into the flight… nope. Vegas wouldn’t accept us. We turned around.
Gate agents and emails then said everyone would be on a 1pm flight tomorrow. Same crew, same plane, all together. Cool.
Then I get another email and my app suddenly shows me rebooked for Thursday instead. Customer service basically shrugged and said everything’s booked and I’m not on the 1pm flight.
I’m currently stuck trying to figure out who actually has the authority to fix this, because the messages coming from Alaska don’t match what agents are saying.
Update: finally made it back to the US but got diverted to LAX for mechanical issues. Now (hopefully) on the last leg to SEA.
If anyone has tips for dealing with Alaska when the system completely melts down like this, I’m all ears.
