I previously went on a rant about how frustrated I was with United reducing mileage earnings if you don’t have their credit card. I was pretty vocal about not wanting to be pushed into getting one, canceled my United Club membership, and even status matched with another airline before switching over.
After trying a couple of round trips, I realized the experience just didn’t compare. On my next trip, I booked with United again, decided to apply for their card, and gave it another shot.
The experience was noticeably better, I even got a premium transfer at the hub, upgrades on all flight segments, and ended up rejoining the club membership. In the end, I’ve fully switched back and now carry their card as well.
Safe to say, I’ve reversed my earlier stance.
