Just a heads-up for anyone planning a trip to Japan soon.
Around the end of April and early May, there’s a possibility of an extended holiday period due to the clustering of public holidays around April 29 (Showa Day), April 30, and May 1. If workers take additional days off, it can effectively create a long break stretching up to 12 consecutive days. Even without taking extra leave, there is already a built-in 4-day public holiday period from May 3 to May 6.
This is expected to significantly increase domestic travel demand, meaning major cities like Tokyo, Osaka, and Kyoto could become extremely crowded. Flight and hotel prices are already rising and may increase further closer to the dates. Additionally, some smaller businesses and restaurants may close during this time, as many owners also take holidays.
