I’m a pretty loyal Southwest flyer. A List, Companion Pass, the whole deal. But lately I’m struggling to see the value.
I’m seeing 45k points or around $460 for a round trip on Southwest, while I can take my spouse on another airline for under $150 total. This isn’t some edge case or last minute search either, it’s been pretty consistent.
If I don’t check bags and don’t really care where I sit for a two hour flight, what’s the actual value proposition here anymore? I used to justify Southwest on flexibility alone, but with prices like this it’s getting harder and harder.
Curious if others are seeing the same thing or if this is just my routes.
