Vueling diverted us to Bologna and offered no transport. Had to pay out of pocket

Flew LGW to Florence tonight and the flight got diverted at the last minute to Bologna. We landed just after midnight.


We were told there should be a bus from Bologna to Florence, but nothing was actually arranged. No emails, no staff help, and Vueling was unreachable by phone. After waiting around for a while with no info, we ended up paying for a taxi ourselves just to get to Florence.


Trying to figure out what our rights are here. Are they supposed to cover the transport in a diversion like this? Can we claim reimbursement under EU261 or something similar?


Any advice from people who’ve dealt with this would be appreciated.
