I’m not sure if this belongs here, but I thought aviation history fans might appreciate it.
This is an old certificate issued by KLM to passengers who crossed the equator back in the 1960s. It was handed out onboard flights as a kind of commemorative document.
The text references a passenger traveling on a KLM DC-8 “Flying Dutchman” en route from Amsterdam Schiphol to Biak, and notes their crossing of the equator, symbolically placing them under “Aeolus, the ruler of the winds.”
It’s a small piece of airline history from a different era of commercial aviation.
