Just a heads up for anyone using Booking.com. I’ve booked through them for years without issues, but ran into something sketchy today.
I booked a hotel in Norway about a month ago. Today I got a WhatsApp message saying I needed to “re confirm” my booking within 24 hours or it would be cancelled. No spelling mistakes, very professional tone.
What freaked me out is they had my real booking number, full name, title, and phone number. The only red flag was the verification link, which was slightly off.
I contacted the hotel immediately and they said this has been an ongoing scam they’ve been seeing for almost a year. Apparently it’s pretty widespread.
Just a reminder to never click links like this and always check directly in the Booking app or with the hotel. The level of detail they had was honestly unsettling.
