Ventimiglia was never on my foodie radar until now and I seriously regret not going sooner. Nestled just four miles from France, this town feels like the perfect marriage between Ligurian charm and French finesse. I spent a long weekend eating my way from Casa Buono’s scallop gnocchi to langoustines three ways at Marco Polo 1960. Add in a bustling local market, focaccia dripping in anchovy-laced tomato sauce, and a negroni mixed tableside at Balzi Rossi with sea views? Pure heaven.
Honestly, I loved how the town still feels under-the-radar despite being a stone’s throw from Monaco. And with a luxury marina and five-star hotel on the horizon, I doubt it’ll stay secret for long.
Anyone else been here recently? Or have other lesser-known border towns with serious culinary chops to recommend?
