I am planning a trip through Uzbekistan, Kyrgyzstan and Kazakhstan and wanted some advice on booking day trips and short excursions.
My itinerary is Tashkent to Bukhara to Samarkand back to Tashkent, then flying to Bishkek and Almaty. From each of these places I plan to do day trips or 1 to 2 day trips to nearby nature spots.
I have seen several tours online, including options like a Bukhara to Aydar Lake trip with a yurt overnight and transfer to Samarkand the next day, but they are quite expensive compared to what I expected. I also want to visit places like the Seven Lakes, Issyk Kul, Song Kul and Charyn Canyon.
My question is whether it is better to prebook these kinds of tours online or if there are enough local operators and drivers available so I can arrange everything once I arrive. I am trying to balance cost and flexibility and do not want to overpay if local booking is easy.
Has anyone traveled this route and can share how easy it is to organize these trips on the ground?
