I’ve got about 43,000 SAS miles expiring in April and I’m trying to use them for a round trip Raleigh to Toronto in January. The award price is 25,000 miles round trip, which works for me, but it doesn’t include a checked bag and I don’t see any option to add one during booking.
Business class is available, but I don’t have enough miles for that.
I’m Silver with KLM (SkyTeam), which normally gives me a free checked bag. But since I’m booking with SAS miles, I don’t see a way to add my KLM number to the reservation to get those benefits.
So I’m wondering: can SkyTeam status benefits still apply on an award ticket booked with SAS miles? Or is there a way to add a checked bag after booking, either with miles or cash?
Sorry if this is a basic question. First time using SAS miles and just trying to avoid paying extra or wasting them.
