To reduce baggage fees, we usually plan to do laundry midway through our trips. While some hotels offer washers and dryers, we often run into the issue of missing or unavailable detergent, which forces us to buy a full pack locally and leave most of it behind.
To solve this, we’ve started bringing laundry detergent sheets. They’re compact, easy to pack in carry-on bags, and not subject to liquid restrictions. We typically use two sheets per load for better cleaning, and they also work well for hand washing if needed.
Additionally, we bring rolls of quarters with us, since many hotel laundry facilities don’t always have enough coins available. Costs can add up, for example, one place charged $2.50 for washing and $3.50 for drying so having coins ready helps avoid inconvenience.
