Using a credit card in Thailand for daily expenses

I’m coming from the US and I’m trying to understand how common it is to use a credit card for everyday spending in Thailand.

I already use an international credit card in Europe without extra fees, but I’ve heard that in Thailand there may be additional charges or surcharges when using credit cards. I’m not sure if that’s accurate.

I want to know what people typically use credit cards for versus cash, and what’s more practical for daily expenses.

I’m also wondering about QR code payments, are they only available for people with Thai bank accounts, or can tourists also use them?
